LATEST NEWS: Police still investigating suspects breaking into house with axes and injuring man

POLICE are investigating following a "disturbance" in the Woodside area of Bradford last night.

A man was assaulted after police received reports of people - who were armed with axes - breaking into a property on the estate.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering injuries, although they are not thought to be life-threatening.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating following a disturbance at Romford Court in Bradford last night.

"Officers were called at 7.04pm to reports of suspects breaking into a property armed with axes.

"A 54-year-old man was assaulted by the suspects and suffered injuries to his legs and back. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"A scene was in place last night, but was lifted at around 11.41pm.

"Anyone who witnessed anything in the area, or has any further information, is asked to contact Bradford CID via 101, quoting crime reference number 13210069003.

"Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
