Injunction against Quinn Blakey Hairdressing continues

Sinead Quinn, owner of Quinn Blakey Hairdressing, was originally sent a letter from Kirklees Council on January 29 who were granted an injunction stopping her from reopening her salon and allowing members of the public to enter.

There is a power of arrest attached to this injunction which means should Ms Quinn breach it she may be arrested and brought to court. The injunction is in place until March 31, 2021.

This injunction will continue following a remote hearing by Leeds Combined Court to consider the application held today.

Judge Mark Gosnell added Ms Quinn is also ordered to pay £2,455 in the five-minute long remote hearing.

Ms Quinn failed to attend today's remote hearing as she did not give the court her contact telephone number to do so, the hearing was told.

Helen Wilson, representing Kirklees Council, said told Ms Quinn has not reopened to customers during the time of the injunction to date. Ms Quinn also placed a copy of the injunction letter on her Instagram page, which is no longer active.

Ms Quinn claimed on social media last month that she would reopen on January 30 despite racking up £17,000 in Fixed Penalty Notices from previous lockdown breaches last year.

She pulled up the shutters of her Bradford Road, Oakenshaw salon on January 30 and was immediately met by two police community support officers.

They went inside the salon for 10 minutes until the two officers allowed Ms Quinn to drive off in a black Range Rover parked outside.

But police later said no Covid breaches had been noted by officers during their visit to the salon.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police did attend at a hairdressers in Oakenshaw on Saturday, January 30.

"No Covid breaches or any other such matters were disclosed or noted."

Ms Quinn has earlier parked outside her Oakenshaw salon just a few minutes after her scheduled opening time of 9am.

She stayed parked up outside the salon in a black Range Rover before driving off after 30 minutes.

A marked police car, a number of uniformed police officers and council officials were also waiting outside the salon.

Ms Quinn was also spotted briefly returning to her salon on February 1. She opened up the salon but was only inside briefly and appeared to drop off some envelopes before leaving with a small package.
