BRADFORD is set to get heavy snow today as the district’s cold snap continues.

The light snow showers overnight will ease for a time during this morning, with a mixture of sunshine and light snow showers, until these get heavier at 11am.

Today’s top temperatures of just 0C in Bradford will lead to heavy snow showers peaking between 2pm and 5pm, according to the Met Office.

The light snow showers continue throughout tonight from 5pm.

Temperatures in Bradford will plunge to -2 tonight.

But tomorrow will be dry and cloudy apaprt from a brief spell of light snow showers at around 6pm. 

This forms part of a yellow weather warning for snow, in place from the early hours of today until Wednesday at 11.59pm, for large parts of the UK, including Bradford.

Frequent snow showers may lead to travel disruption in places. Some places are likely to miss the showers altogether.

The warning says some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

Small chance of longer travel delays in places with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces can happen.

Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths can be expected.

There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
