THESE poignant pieces of artwork created by a Bradford College student have been inspired by the NHS and the times we are currently living through.

Peter Hodgson, 39, from Low Moor, is currently in the second year of his BA Hons Visual Arts degree and credits it with helping him through mental illness.

Explaining his art, he said: "The image with the child reaching for the falling leaves is called 'Can I Go Outside'.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"I featured all the seasons from winter, spring, summer, autumn and back to spring because there are new buds growing on the tree.

"Bradford College was asked by the Bradford Royal Infirmary to create artwork showing a more positive side of this strange times. The child wearing the mask which features hearts and her backpack has a rainbow, which I thought were nice elements to include. I used watercolours and inks for this one."

This one is called 'Thumbs Up' and was inspired by a photograph Peter saw of an NHS doctor wearing full PPE giving a thumbs up.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"Which I thought was such a good image of reassurance one that I wanted to capture using tiles" said Peter.

He also created an image of him and his chihuahua, sitting on the hill looking down into Low Moor.

He said: "I wanted to capture that I haven't been alone, I have my dog who is my emotional support dog, in this he is always with me.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"The art was done using stencils that I cut out and used an airbrush. I like the night scene which I don't find easy to do so this was one I was proud of."
