THE latest Covid-19 vaccination figures for West Yorkshire have been published by NHS England, with almost 340,000 people in the county  - one in six people – now having had at least one dose.

The figures, which date up to February 2, reveal 89.1 per cent of over 80s in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership area have had their first dose, with 13.3 per cent now having had two doses and full protection.

This is up from 83.2 per cent getting one dose a week previous, and 12.9 per cent having had both doses.

The total cumulative figure now stands at 338,563 doses, up from 242,840 the week before.

The latest figures also show that 85.2 per cent of the 75 to 79-year-old population have now had their first dose, but only 0.2 per cent have had their second jab.

For the 70 to 74-year-old age bracket, 31.8 per cent have had their first Covid-19 jab, and 0.1 per cent have had their second.

A total of 126,445 under 70s – which includes NHS and care staff – have had their first dose, with 4,750 having had their second dose.

West Yorkshire is currently ahead of the national average for vaccinating the over 80s and those aged 75 to 79, but slightly behind for those aged 70 to 74.

So far, 17.8 per cent of all adults in West Yorkshire have had a vaccine dose, up from 12.8 per cent last week. This means more than one in six people in the county have had a vaccine dose so far.
