A DRIVER was stopped by police last night after driving in the wrong lane on the M62, before being found to be uninsured.

The motorist was spotted by officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit near Junction 27 for Gildersome on the motorway at about 9pm yesterday.

The silver Volkswagen Golf was being driven in a lane which was marked with a red X by overhead signs, which mean no vehicles should be in that lane.

After officers stopped the car, the driver was also found to be uninsured to drive the car, and was reported for the offences.

The Roads Policing Unit added: "Treat the red X as you would a red traffic light and don’t proceed past it."
