A man aged 51 made sexual remarks to a teenage schoolgirl and stored indecent images of children on his phone, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Kenneth Everett made “weird comments” to the teenager about sex toys, boobies and pornography, telling her: “Don’t tell anyone what I’m saying to you.”

Everett, of Northlea Avenue, Thackley, Bradford, admitted communicating with the child for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification and making two Category B and 386 category C indecent images of children.

Prosecutor Camille Morland said the girl was very distressed by the remarks.

When the police seized Everett’s phone they found the indecent images.

Everett’s solicitor advocate, John Bottomley, said he had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and been frank with his probation officer.

He had lost his job as a precision engineer and was very depressed at the time. He was self-medicating with alcohol and drugs.

Mr Bottomley said Everett never touched the girl and none of the indecent images were at Category A, the most serious.

Recorder Jonathan Sandiford QC told Everett he had caused the girl discomfort and fear.

“It’s an unpleasant, unwanted, nasty offence committed by a drunken adult far older than her,” he said.

Everett was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, with a two year community order. He must attend the Horizon Programme for sexual offenders and an alcohol treatment requirement.

Recorder Sandiford made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years and Everett must sign on the sex offender register, also for ten years.
