A MAN who set up a business just weeks before the pandemic struck is offering his services for free after the virus brought work to a halt.

Brendan Donohue set up his firm offering fogging disinfectant treatments after being made redundant from his previous job in financial services.

After attending a Government scheme he started the one-man operation and got off to a good start.

“I was very busy at first, doing a lot of work for cafes, pubs, hairdressing and beauty salons. But then the first lockdown came and things slowed down a little,” he said. “With the subsequent lockdowns our service has taken a hit as so many places are closed.”

Rather than sit back doing nothing Brendan, who lives in Baildon, decided to help businesses out by offering fogging for free.

“I did not want to be sitting at home watching TV and I thought I would like to be out there helping in some way, so I started to offer my services for no charge. I would rather be out sanitising than doing nothing.

“So far I have de-sanitised between 20 and 25 businesses across Bradford. I just want to help people and to support businesses who are struggling through the pandemic.”

He added: “I also wanted to say thank you to those who are helping people through this crisis. I recently arranged a free sanitations of a café in Wibsey, not because they are struggling financially but as a gesture of our appreciation for the great work they are doing in offering free lockdown meals to children who are off school.”

The fogging process kills 99.99 per cent of all pathogens and bacteria in a premises - whether a business, vehicle or private house.

Brendan also educates businesses on the correct way to carry out daily cleaning/sanitising routines. “Just simple stuff like how long to keep their disinfectant in contact with any surface before wiping. We are amazed that very few people know how to use disinfectant properly. Spraying and then immediately wiping a table does nothing - you have to leave it on for about ten minutes for it to work. We think the government is missing a trick in actually educating people on correct cleaning methods.”
