A GRANDAD is looking forward to seeing his 12-week-old granddaughter for the first time after having his Covid-19 vaccination at the new Jacob's Well site in the city centre.

It opened its doors today, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailing it as "great news" on a visit to nearby Batley.

The Prime Minister visited the Al-Hikmah centre in Batley earlier today and when asked about vaccine supplies to Bradford and West Yorkshire beyond February 15, the target date for the first four priority groups to have received their first dose, he said: "First of all, I want to thank all the teams involved in rolling out the vaccines in Bradford and West Yorkshire."

He said it had been a "stunning performance" by those involved and added: "I want people to be reassured about supply. We're very confident in the supplies that we have and the contracts that we have and we'll continue to be ramping up production in the UK in the weeks and months ahead."

He said production had been "a bit bumpy" but said it was hoped things would start to become smoother.

Mr Johnson added: "I want to give every reassurance that we're very confident in the supplies and the rollout that we have and I'm very confident now in the amazing distribution network we have."
