TWO Bradford Moor councillors are setting up a weekend service to deliver food to vulnerable people.

Councillors Mohammed Shafiq and Zafar Iqbal said: “We are worried members of the elderly population could be at risk of missing out on vital services. We are providing a service where we will safely deliver food parcels or emergency shopping to vulnerable people unable to collect it themselves. We will also provide them with a list of key services so they can get the support they need in long term.”

The service will be for those unable to go out to get food parcels or shopping, with priority for people aged over 70 and over.

Although the service is for people in Bradford Moor, the councillors stress that nobody in need will be turned away and they will refer anyone living in other areas to the services they need.

Anyone needing support can contact Cllr Shafiq on 07904 120986 and Cllr Iqbal on 07539 696877.
