CONTROVERSIAL plans to build houses on a "sensitive" site in Baildon have been withdrawn for a second time.

Proposals to build 14 houses on a 0.87 hectare site at Walker Wood, near Shipley Glen, were first submitted by Steadman Brierley in 2019, and attracted a large number of objections.

The application was withdrawn early last year, but in June an amended plan, also for 14 houses was submitted.

That application proved equally controversial, and had attracted 142 objections.

Now that application has also been withdrawn.

The plans, which had been further amended last year, had raised numerous concerns.

The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust had described the site as "very sensitive" and claimed there would be a loss in biodiversity if the houses were built.

Bradford Council's Biodiversity officers had also recently told planners they could not support the scheme.

And the authority's tree officers had raised concerns about the possible harm to surrounding woodland.

The developers withdrew the application this week.
