SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because they couldn’t sleep during last night’s rainfall.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.
The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.
The force receives 120 inappropriate calls each day, adding one is too many, as part of its #Not999 campaign.
And this one was no exception.
The team said: " Now had someone on 9's saying they can't sleep due to the sound of the rain...... #Not999.”
Meanwhile, police also received a call last night from someone saying they could not pay for their takeaway after their bank card was swallowed up by a cashpoint machine:
Just had a 999 call. Male has ordered a takeaway, gone to bank machine and its taken his card and wont let him withdraw money or give card back. Not happy he now can't pay for takeaway. What are the police meant to do?! #Not999

Recently, the contact centre revealed someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.
Other examples included a call from someone asking if their bank was open and a dispute over paying a window cleaner.
