THE Prime Minister Boris Johnson will address the nation later today in a Downing Street press conference.

Mr Johnson will appear at 5pm to bring the latest updates on the Covid-19 pandemic.

He will be joined by Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty, and NHS England chief Sir Simon Stevens during the briefing.

The press conference will come after the UK's Covid-19 death toll passed 100,000, and looks set to pass 1,000 in the Bradford district alone.

What will the Prime Minister announce?

Quarantine hotels also look set to become the latest way to try and stop infections from overseas coming into the country.

Countries like Australia and New Zealand have used this form of quarantine for months and are now living life as normal after effectively controlling Covid-19.

Expect comments on the latest unemployment figures, which have hit their highest total for four years.

There has also been rumblings of potential problems importing vaccine doses from Europe due to the European Union's slow rollout of jabs, but this morning Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi said they were confident it wouldn't be an issue.

The Prime Minister will probably be pressed again on whether the Government is on target to hit it's February 15 deadline of getting everyone in the top four priority groups at least one dose of the vaccine and some protection from Covid-19.

We will be live blogging the whole thing, so make sure to tune in later this afternoon to see what the PM has to say.
