AN empty car showroom in Keighley town centre can be converted into a restaurant after new plans were approved by Bradford Council.

An application submitted by C Bailey last Summer detailed how the former Pentagon car dealership on Worth Way would be transformed into a new restaurant with 14 parking spaces.

The site is one of the main routes into Keighley town centre and is behind the town's Morrisons.

The dealership once sold Peugeot and Fiat cars. Pentagon took over the business in 2013, but shut the site in March 2018.

Planning officers said: "There would be some intensification of use of the access of the car park however there would be likely busy times in the evening, when traffic levels and congestion are low.

Popular pub will remain in place as part of a £10m development, despite proposals to demolish the buildings either side of it

"It is unlikely that the use will cause adverse impact due to the off-street parking, car park available in close proximity to the site, also there are frequent bus services which can be used to access the site with a number of bus stops in the surrounding area."

The conditioned opening hours are 4pm to midnight on Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 1am on Friday to Saturday, and 4pm to 11pm on Sunday/Bank Holiday.
