POLICE have confirmed this morning that an individual died on the tracks late last night after a railway line was blocked.

The Calder Valley Line, which connects Bradford and Halifax via Low Moor, was disrupted for a number of hours yesterday evening.

The Real Time Trains website stated that services on the route had been cancelled "due to a person hit by a train".

They added: "Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

One resident told the T&A that an air ambulance had landed in the Cleckheaton Road area of Low Moor, close to the rail station, at around 8.45pm yesterday.

The T&A has contacted Yorkshire Air Ambulance for a comment.
