A PLANNED city centre venue could serve alcohol to up to 2am on weekends if Bradford Council grants a premises licence.

Last year the Council approved plans to turn an empty unit on Duke Street into a bar/cafe.

Now the company behind the plans, Wide Mouth Bars Ltd, have applied for a licence to serve alcohol and for the performance of live music.

The licence is for the sale of alcohol and playing of recorded music from 11am to 2am.

If approved it would also allow the performance of live music on Sunday to Wednesday between noon and midnight and on Thursday to Saturday from noon to 1am.

New cafe/bar planned for long empty Bradford city centre unit

The Council are expected to decide on the licence next month.

The building is a former recruitment agency, and lies within a Grade II listed building.

The planning application it said the business will lead to increased footfall in an area of the city centre that has suffered from numerous high profile closures in recent years.
