MPs in our district say they have been told vaccine supplies to Yorkshire and the North East won't be slashed.

It comes amid "alarming" reports that that the supply would be halved because the area is outperforming other regions.

Philip Davies, Conservative MP for Shipley, told the Telegraph & Argus this evening: “The Regional Director of the NHS confirmed in a briefing to Yorkshire MPs this evening that the figures quoted were untrue, that the Yorkshire and North East region had received over 300,000 vaccines this week and would receive over 300,000 vaccines next week, and that the region will ensure that all the priority groups are vaccinated by the target date of mid-February.

“I am sorry if people have been unduly worried by this scaremongering story, but I suppose the headline “Region on track to hit schedule for vaccination rollout” doesn’t sell as many papers.”

Bradford East MP Imran Hussain said he had also received assurances supplies won't be slashed, but has written to the Government to ask for guarantees that vaccine supplies to Bradford will not be reduced.

He said: "Many people will have seen alarming reports today that the supply of Covid-19 vaccines for Yorkshire will be halved because we are outperforming other regions, which has caused understandable concern for those in the priority groups for the vaccine who have been left uncertain if and when they will receive it.

"However, after pressing Regional NHS and Public Health Directors, I have received assurances that the supply will not be halved.

"Nevertheless, there is still confusion and a lack of clarity on this issue, and I have written to the Minister for Vaccine Deployment for assurances that the supply of vaccines in Bradford will not be reduced, and to ask for guarantees that no one who has been invited for a vaccination will have their appointment cancelled."
