LATEST NEWS: Two men arrested on suspicion of wounding Morrisons security guard after scuffle
A MORRISONS security guard has been injured after a struggle with armed men.
The 51-year-old male security guard, who works at the Morrisons store in Mayo Avenue, approached two men in the supermarket, as it was suspected they were stealing.
This was at around 5pm on Wednesday afternoon.
The men suddenly became aggressive.
Both had knives on them and a scuffle broke out between the security guard and the armed men.
The guard was injured on his arm by one of the men, before the two suspects fled the scene.
The injuries were only minor and required no medical treatment.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called around 5pm following reports of an altercation between two men and a security guard at the supermarket on Mayo Avenue."
Police are investigating the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
