Concerns are mounting tonight about the risk of flooding in riverside locations between Keighley and Skipton.

Several flood 'alerts' that were in place along that section of the River Aire have now been upgraded to flood 'warnings' - meaning 'flooding is expected and immediate action is required.'

Flood Warnings have been issued for:

- River Aire, Skipton Road, Kildwick

 - River Aire, Cross Hills, including the Airedale Trading Park.

- River Aire at Snaygill Industrial Estate and Cononley Business Park.

While these warnings apply to areas just over the border in North Yorkshire, concerns persist in the Bradford district.

Bradford Council tweeted: "These (warnings) could have an impact on river catchments in our district."

As it put the warnings in place, the Environment Agency said: "River levels are continuing to rise on the Upper Aire around Kildwick as a result of the heavy and persistent rainfall associated with Storm Christoph.

"The washlands around that location are filling. Levels are expected to continue to rise until tomorrow (Thursday morning).

"Areas most at risk are the outbuildings and the industrial estate next to the roundabout. "Properties along Station Road are also at risk. We are closely monitoring the situation."

Meanwhile, flood alerts remain in place on for the district on:

• Upper & Lower River Wharfe

 • Upper & Middle River Aire Catchment

 • River Worth Catchment

A section of parapet at Mill Hey in Haworth has been removed to allow water to flood into the beck if needed.

Assistance has been provided by firefighters to pump out water from a car park in Apperley Bridge to protect people's properties.

In Mirfield, Calder View remains closed because of flooding.

Further afield, around 2,000 properties were being evacuated in Greater Manchester overnight due to flooding concerns, with the Didsbury area badly affected.
