Police and emergency services are currently in attendance at the River Aire just off Higher Coach Road in Baildon after a concern for safety call.

Officers were called to the river near to the Bradford Rowing Club just after 3pm this afternoon by a member of the public worried that a man had been 'cut off by the water'.

The man is described as a white male, around 80 years old, wearing a flat cap, bright red coat, trousers tucked into boots and walking with a stick.

Sergeant Mark Hughes, from the Shipley Patrol team, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone fitting the description as above to check that they are fit and well.

"Emergency services have been in attendance this afternoon carrying out patrols and CCTV enquiries to establish what has happened to this man.

"There’s no suggestion that the man entered the water at this stage but we are keen to find this man to make sure they are okay."
