THE coronavirus death toll at hospitals in the Bradford district has now surpassed 700, according to the latest NHS England figures.

A further ten COVID-19-related deaths have been reported by the district's hospitals today, bringing the total to 709.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has also now reached 500.

Six of today's reported ten deaths took place at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with one of those six deaths reported to have happened on 12 January, and the other five reported to have happened on 18 January.

The remaining four deaths were reported by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust - one death each was reported to have happened on 16 and 18 January, and two were reported to have happened on 19 January.

Of the 709 hospital deaths reported in the Bradford district, according to NHS England figures, 500 have been reported by Bradford Teaching Hospitals, 207 by Airedale and two by Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Elsewhere, six COVID-related deaths were reported by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, three by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and six by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Nationally, a further 1,027 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths at hospitals in England to 63,322, NHS England says.

Patients were aged between 29 and 101-years-old. All except 49 of them, who were aged between 37 and 99-years-old, had known underlying health conditions.

The majority of patients (239) died at hospitals in London, according to NHS England figures, followed by the Midlands (190), the South East (170), the East of England (148), the North West (124) and the North East & Yorkshire (100).

Their families have been informed
