A SCHOOL has had to close some classes after more positive Covid-19 cases emerged.

High Park School, for pupils with severe and complex needs arising from communication and interaction difficulties, autism and severe learning disabilities, took the action after staff tested positive.

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said today: "We can confirm that more staff from the school tested positive over the weekend and today the school has taken prompt action and closed classes that have been directly affected.

"The rest of the school remains open for pupils and the school has informed parents. We will continue to work closely with the school and public health to make sure all the necessary steps are taken to control infection and prevent transmission.

"The health and wellbeing of pupils, staff and their respective families remains High Park’s first priority.”

At the end of last week, the Council moved to re-assure people after concerns were raised there was an outbreak at the school, on Thorn Lane, Heaton.

A spokesperson said: “Our data does not match the information you have been given and does not support the view that there has been an escalation in cases at the school.

"In line with national guidance given by the Department for Education we would encourage children with an education health and care plan (EHCP) to attend school.
"We continue to work with and support schools during the pandemic to keep children and staff safe.”
