A BRADFORD musician has seen his music chosen for an advertising campaign for a Japanese newspaper, as he also releases new material.

David 'Nova' Nowakowski, from Bradford band 'Scars on 45', has seen his work chosen for the campaign in the Far East.

Mainichi Shimbun is one of Japan's leading newspapers and his contemporary piano music ‘The Day’ features on the 30-second long video. He has also released another track as well to go together with it.

Nowakowski says he feels fortunate that his music was chosen from a huge number of contenders from across the world.

He said: "The piano placement was submitted last year to a German agency who then put forward my work. They had around 4,000 to 5,000 submissions and the kid from Bradford ended up getting his piece in the mix.

"It just shows how music can connect with everyone around the world no matter where you are. It’s incredible.

"The track is available for streaming together with ‘Light’ another track which I made available."

Despite being based in Denver, Colorado in the USA during the pandemic, Nowakowski has also been hard at work creating new material with fellow Bradfordian musicians.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

He added he wants to do his part to help put Bradford on the map as it looks to win the City of Culture 2025 status.

He said: "It’s been a rough tough year, but I’ve taken full advantage of using my creative skills within music but also connecting with other talented musicians from around the world.

Especially with the 2025 bid coming up, putting Bradford on the map with so many talented people in the creative box is great to see

Meanwhile, Nowakowski has also been writing/producing again with Andy Ruddy and the duo have a new single, Running Back For More, was released last Friday.

They also have a full EP coming out this spring.

At the end of this month, Nowakowski's brother, Tom's project, Tom Nowakowski and the Northern Orchestra, are releasing another single which David has produced.

David also has a track coming out on Valentine’s Day with Nashville-based writer Hannah Miller.

David is a busy man as he is finishing off composing his first short film called ‘Alter’ which is being released later this year, also from LA director Christian Rose.

He is also known to Bradford City fans for his 'Nova Meets' interview videos filmed around Valley Parade on matchdays, pre-pandemic.

He is the keyboard player in Scars on 45, who have had their songs played on hit American programmes including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CSI: New York and Grey’s Anatomy.

The four-piece band, whose members are all from the Bradford district, were also given a civic reception by then Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Mike Gibbons, in January 2015.
