BRADFORD is set for more snow this weekend, as the Met Office issues a fresh warning for snow and ice.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 3am to 9pm on Saturday, covering the entire district, and warns of snow and ice.

It comes following today's heavy snowfall which has created beautiful winter scenes across the district but also caused mayhem and disruption on the roads.

The Met Office is warning of "a band of heavy snow", and has told people to expect travel delays on roads, along with a chance of delayed or cancelled rail travel.

People are also warned to take care as they may be at risk of slipping on icy surfaces and getting injured, and that untreated pavements and paths pose a greater risk of injury.

There is also a change the extreme weather may cause power cuts or affect mobile phone coverage.

Forecaster have warned: "An area of rain pushing eastwards is expected to turn snow in places as it encounters colder air across parts of northern England.

"At first the main hazard may be rain falling onto frozen surfaces leading to ice, especially on higher level routes.

"However snow becomes more likely during the early morning. Heavier snowfall is more likely at elevations above 200 metres in  northern England, where five to ten centimetres of snow may accumulate, possibly 20cm on highest routes.

"At lower levels and further south, two to five cm of snow may accumulate in places, but the situation is finely balanced, with the possibility that most lower-lying areas, especially in the east, will see rain or sleet rather than snow."
