A DRIVER wasn't going to stop for police - until he saw a 'stinger' device waiting to snare him.

Police stopped the driver at junction 24 of the M62 after receiving community intelligence that he did not have a licence and was uninsured.

They deployed a stinger, which are used to puncture the tyres of vehicles, to bring the car to a stop.

But, it wasn't needed in the end.

The West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit said: "Driver considered not stopping until he saw the stinger waiting at the bottom of the junction, and thought better of it.

"Reported to court and vehicle seized."
