BRADFORD pop star Zayn Malik celebrates his 28th birthday today.

The East Bowling-born star first hit the headlines as a member of one of music’s biggest ever boy bands; One Direction.

Malik departed the group in 2015 and the other members went on hiatus in 2016. Their last televised performance together was in December 2015.

His solo career got off to a strong start and his 2016 single Pillowtalk, from the album Mind Of Mine, was a worldwide smash. It led to Malik becoming the first British male artist to debut at number one in both the UK and US.

 

He is back with new music, including single Vibez, and welcomed his first child with model partner Gigi Hadid, 25, last year.

The couple are yet to reveal their daughter's name and have been careful not to show her face in pictures they have shared.

He now lives in the USA and last made a public appearance in Bradford when he attended a City game at Valley Parade in Christmas 2019.
