POLICE are appealing for information after a bus was left with two smashed windows.

It happened on Friday (January 8) at around 4.50pm in the Clayton Road/Legrams Lane area of Lidget Green.

This affected the 636/637 First Bus services which were temporarily diverted. A spokesperson for the bus operator said the damage was caused by youths throwing snowballs.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or by using the options on the West Yorkshire Police website.

"The crime reference is 13210012421.

"Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers."

Then on Saturday, First said it had reports of youths throwing objects at buses at around 6.30pm, and, as a precaution, put the same diversion in place.

First added no damage was caused to its buses in the second incident, but a spokesperson said: “This mindless vandalism is endangering our drivers and customers and disrupting the lives of local people in the communities we serve, especially at this time when we are focused on ensuring key workers and anyone making essential journeys can travel when they need to.

“The safety of staff and customers is our highest priority and will work closely with the police to investigate these incidents including the use of on board CCTV to help identify the individuals involved.”
