POLICE have reminded people to only use the 999 line in an emergency after receiving a bizarre call.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre often tweets about the calls it receives.
The most recent example is not to be laughed at.
The caller rang the emergency line to tell the operator a joke.
The operator outlined that this is not a valid reason to ring 999, particularly when the joke is "not even funny".
A spokesperson for the Contact Centre said: "Please remember, calling 999 is for emergencies only.
"Don't ring up to tell us a joke, especially when it's not even funny."
