IT'S Harlem Globetrotters Day today but you may not remember the legendary basketball team's links to Bradford.
The multi-skilled squad have dazzled crowds in the city during two visits in 2012 and 1957.
In the more recent trip, in January 2012, then stars Flip Atkins and Blend Rodriguez showcased their skills to Bradford Bulls players and Tong High School pupils during the Odsal visit.
The team faced the United States Basketball Stars at Bulls' former home in 1957 and the players were invited back eight years ago as part of the stadium’s Past Times Project.
Who are the Harlem Globetrotters?
The team started life in 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, under coach Abe Saperstein.
They were originally known as the Savoy Big Five, one of the premier attractions of the Savoy Ballroom opened in January 1928, a basketball team of African-American players that played exhibitions before dances due to declining dance attendance But it wasn't until 1941 that the Globetrotters took on the more flamboyant style when Reece 'Goose' Tatum was signed, who introduced comedy moves and changed the direction of the team.
