LATEST NEWS:

THERE are four Bradford schools which have been forced to close to all pupils today, including key worker and vulnerable children.

Primary and secondary schools across the country were shut for the first time yesterday since the Government plunged Britain into a third lockdown.

Teachers still went into the settings to provide remote learning and many schools remained open for the children of key workers and vulnerable students.

But four schools in Bradford have had to shut their doors to every pupil today, for emergency reasons.

Two are closed due to issues with their boilers and heating, one is shut due to a combination of this and staffing issues, while the other is closed soley because of insufficient staff numbers.

Ingrow Primary School, in Keighley, is shut due to boiler repairs.

It will reopen to key worker and vulnerable students on Thursday, January 7.

Meanwhile, Keelham Primary School, in Well Heads, has had to close due to a mechanical fault on the setting's boiler.

The school has said it will continue to update parents throughout the day as to when it will reopen for key worker and vulnerable pupils.

The heating system at Merlin Top Primary Academy, in Keighley, is not working currently and so it has been forced to fully close.

The school said, engineers have been on-site, but the repair is taking "some time".

It was closed to everyone yesterday for this reason and continues to be shut today as there is not enough staff to fully open the academy to all children.

The school said it will update parents as soon as possible.

Finally, Our Lady and St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, in The Bank, is closed to all children until next Monday (January 11) due to staff illness.

It will reopen on that day for key worker and vulnerable children.
