FIVE further Covid-19-related hospital deaths have been reported in the Bradford district today, according to the latest NHS figures.

All five deaths were reported by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Two of these deaths were reported on December 31; two deaths on December 29 and one death on December 17.

It means the total number of hospital deaths in the Bradford district, according to NHS figures, now stands at 642 - 456 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals; 184 at Airedale and two at the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust reported one death while Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which includes Pinderfields, also reported one. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust also reported one death.

Nationally, the deaths of 420 people were announced, 49 of them were in Yorkshire and the North East.

The figures are updated at 2pm each day and include confirmed death cases reported at 4pm the previous day.

NHS England says: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification, death certificates and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure.

"This means that the totals reported at 4pm on each day may not include all deaths that occurred on that day or on recent prior days."
