A BRADFORD Bulls star says he feels proud as he gets ready to open the expanded site for his gym business.

Jordan Lilley, 24, has teamed up with his dad Mark for their Lilley's Fitness business, which is moving to a new facility in Bradford - twice the size of their previous site.

The Bulls stand-off says the family firm has come a long way after setting it up two years ago.

Work to transform a former call centre into Jordan’s gym on Caledonia Street has been ongoing over the last few months despite the pandemic.

The 4,000 sq ft site will feature a physiotherapy room, kitchen, chillout area and male and female changing facilities.

It is a move down the road to their new facility as they ran a gym on Barnard Road with a number of classes, which is only half the size of the new site.

The gym business will get under way with an open day at the site on Saturday, January 2, between noon and 2pm, where visitors will get a chance to sign up for membership.

The gym will officially open to the public for classes on Monday, January 4. It will then be open between 6am and 9pm weekdays and at yet to be confirmed times at weekends.

Jordan, who runs fitness classes himself, said: “It’s brill. I started the business from an outdoor bootcamp two years ago and we have managed to build up to this now.

“I’m quite proud at the moment that we have been able to do that.

“Hopefully we can stay in Tier 3 in West Yorkshire which means we will be able to keep the gym open.

“We have got loads of things at the gym. We have got a good, fully functioning gym.

“We have a cardio and weights room. We have bikes, treadmills, stairmasters. We have tyres, barbells and boxing pads

“We will have three rooms eventually. We have just had to rip out the old boiler room which will be our third room.

“It’s a small, family-run business at the moment. We don’t have pools and saunas at the moment, but hopefully we will in the future.

“Our small business can progress. The dream is to have Lilley Fitness sites across Leeds and other areas.”

Jordan’s new gym has also been backed by the Bulls, who tweeted: ‘A great way to start the new year!’

The Bulls ace says the business had outgrown its previous space which prompted the move.

Jordan says the time was right for him to expand his gym business despite the threat of possible further restrictions due to the coronavirus crisis.

Meanwhile, the former Leeds Rhinos ace, who has played 43 times for Bulls, scoring nine tries and hopes to be back in action for John Kear's side next season after the pandemic wiped out the majority of the 2020 Betfred Championship campaign.
