KEIGHLEY RUFC have raised nearly £20,000 in their efforts to survive the coronavirus pandemic.

They have not played any competitive rugby since March, and with only friendlies and regionalised competitions to sustain them between now and the new league campaign next September, and no guarantee of fans in attendance, the situation was looking dire.

But their Crowdfunder campaign, topped up by a £5,000 donation from Sport England, raised over £15,000.

It gets better, as when direct donations were taken into account, the club ended up with a sum total of £19,085.

Keighley expressed their delight on Twitter, saying the money raised affords them financial security through the pandemic.
