A COMPANY that operates a chain of eco-friendly, water-free car washes has been given planning permission to open its first Bradford branch.

The Car Wash Co had applied to create a car wash and valet business in the parking area for Forster Square Retail Park in Bradford city centre.

The application was approved by Bradford Council shortly before Christmas.

It will be the first time the company, which has 50 locations in the UK, has opened a site in the Bradford District.

There are two branches in Leeds.

The staff spray a waterless product on the car and use a cloth to wipe it clean, which the company says prevents waste.

The business will take up 12 parking spaces in the out of town retail park, in an area next to Valley Road.

Planning officers said: “In principle, the use is considered appropriate for the setting, and is a logical place for this type of business.”

As well as the change of use of the site, the application will allow a canopy and a portacabin to be installed in the car park.
