SIR - I read with interest the thoughts of both Chris Young and Emma Clayton and they deserve high praise for highlighting the reality that 'remembering/celebrating' events relating to Guy Fawkes are now way way passed their 'sell-by date'.
From a bus drivers' point of view it is a time of year colleagues have come to loathe, and once mid-October arrives it usually sparks almost four weeks of routine vandalism toward our vehicles in the form of broken windows from objects hurled at passing buses. The darkness providing a convenient stage for such stupidity.
The possible/probable loss of just one life from such antics isn't worth all this nonsense. No more.
