A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man in his 20s died following a shooting last night.

Police were called to Ripon Avenue in the Fartown area of Huddersfield last night to reports of a man being injured in a shooting.

Officers attended at 9.09pm and found a 26-year-old man, who was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Another man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.

A number of roads are closed in the area while police continue to carry out enquiries, and patrols have been stepped up in the area.
