FIREFIGHTERS stopped a "troublesome" car fire from spreading to other vehicles in the early hours of the morning.

Crews from Shipley fire station received a call from a passer by who reported a car fire on Powell Road.

Arriving on the scene shortly after 3.59am, the team saw a silver Renault Megane "fully involved in fire".

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "It took quite a while because there was an amount of fuel in it, which proved troublesome.

"There was one fire fighter and one breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

"It's completely burnt out. Everything that could have burnt has burnt out.

"Fortunately our intervention stoped it spreading to the other vehicles."
