Telegraph & Argus readers have been sharing their thoughts on the news - here's a selection of what they had to say, taken from our website and Facebook page.

Chris Musgrave wrote: "Feel sorry for him, empty stadium won't have helped, but when do players ever get the blame, crazy really."

Michael WM said: "People seem to think it's either the manager or the players who fail.

"Sometimes it's both. McCall is a bad manager, and the players we have are rubbish. Unfortunately, you can't sack a squad of players, but you can sack a manager."

Chris Dyson added: "As much as I like Stuart McCall, the club cannot accept the current string of form. Something needed to be done."

Salvatore Di-Franco said: "Sad for Stuart but this was coming unfortunately. Just hope whoever the replacement, they're a tried and tested manager, and get proper backing to get things on track. CTID."

And Christopher Dickerson added: "Why give him a new contract two weeks ago. Makes no sense at all."

On our website, Vettriano wrote: "I'm relieved this has happened at last. A new manager can look at what we have and hopefully have a good transfer window, and maybe look at free agents. We can now look forward to a bright future but we must get it right next time."

Lazy_Potato added: "Gutted but obviously not surprised. Good luck Stuart for the future where ever that may be and good health to you and your family! Forever a BCAFC legend! CTID."

While wakefieldbantam wrote: "Feel for Stuart but it's for the best for all parties we just couldn't take the risk being where we are in the league.

"Stuart will remain a legend as its should be."
