THE firm carrying out roadworks at Greengates junction has slammed some motorists for making "dangerous and illegal" manoeuvres putting other motorists and workers at risk.

Howard Civil Engineering called on people to report any dangerous driving they see around the junction to the police in its latest update on progress at the crossroads of Harrogate Road and New Line, where major works are taking place to update the busy junction.

It said: "We are aware that a small number of road users are making dangerous manoeuvres around the traffic management measures which jeopardise the safety of others.

"Should you witness any dangerous or illegal manoeuvres, please report these directly to West Yorkshire Police.

"Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council would like to thank those who are driving safely through the junction. Your continued patience and understanding as we undertake improvement works are greatly appreciated."

It also provided an update on what work has taken place in the last two weeks, and is due to be completed in the upcoming fortnight.

The firm said: "We are pleased to say we have now completely reconstructed the private footpaths to the gardens along New Line opposite Asda.

"Further down New Line, opposite the P-Loop area, we have continued our reduce-level dig and capping works to the area of widened road and investigated unknown and unchartered services located during these operations.

"We have continued to construct the new retaining wall on New Line alongside the Farmfoods boundary. These works will continue over the next two weeks.

"In the P-loop area, work to form the new road and footpaths is ongoing. We have also been continuing to install draining works, including working to connect to the main sewer."

In the next fortnight, workers will be aiming to complete the reduced level dig opposite the P-loop junction in New Line, and 1,000 tonnes of unsuitable material is also going to be removed to enable the new road to be built.

Howard added that from Christmas Even to January 3, there will be increased maintenance of traffic management measures at the junction.
