A MAN accused of murdering his father today appeared at Bradford Crown Court when his trial was fixed for July 12 next year.
Phillip Badwal, 24, was sent to the higher court yesterday by Bradford and Keighley magistrates charged with murdering 59-year-old Santokh 'Charlie' Singh.
Badwal, of Airedale Road, Undercliffe, Bradford, was represented today by barrister Rodney Ferm who asked for him not to be arraigned on the charge.
Mr Ferm requested time for reports to be prepared to investigate Badwal’s medical background.
The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, adjourned the case for a plea and trial preparation hearing on March 19.
The five-day trial was fixed to begin on July 12 in front of either Judge Mansell or a High Court Judge.
Judge Mansell remanded Badwal back into custody following the short hearing.
Mr Singh was found with head injuries at an address in Airedale Road on Monday morning.
Police had been called to the property following reports an assault had taken place, and Mr Singh was pronounced dead at the scene.
