Roads policing officers have warned motorists to take extra care as "snow is settling across various areas of West Yorkshire."

Officers tweeted a snowy picture from Junction 22 of the M62 at midnight.

The wintry weather has hit areas including Kirklees and Keighley in recent hours, with drivers warned to be careful.

One resident added that Wilsden has had a "good dusting" of snow - but didn't anticipate too many road problems.

The RPU tweet said: "The scene from Junction 22 of the M62 tonight, snow is settling across various areas in West Yorkshire. If you do need to head out on the roads, please take care. Slow down and allow extra time for your journey."

Traffic Dave tweeted: "If you are planning on travelling across the Pennines on the M62 tonight, slow down and keep safe.

"Snow is settling on lane three with reduced visibility from #J24 #Huddersfield right through #J22."
