A VEHICLE remains on a busy roundabout nearly one month after crashing into a tree.
As previously reported, emergency services were called to Chafeys roundabout in Weymouth following reports of a single-vehicle collision at 10.22am on Monday, November 9.
The male driver was freed from the vehicle by firefighters from Weymouth Fire Station. The driver sustained minor injures in the crash and was assessed by an ambulance crew.
Nearly one month later, the silver Smart car remains on the roundabout as one resident feared “no one seems to want it removed”.
Visiting the scene on Thursday (December 3), the damaged vehicle remains in front of the tree and can be seen by motorists travelling northbound on Weymouth Way.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said police officers are speaking to the car’s owner about recovering the vehicle from Chafeys roundabout.
She said: “We were called at 10.22am on Monday, November 9 to a report of a single vehicle collision at Chafeys roundabout in Weymouth.
“Officers are at the scene with the ambulance and fire services. One lane is currently closed. Minor injuries reported.
“Enquiries are being made with the owner to have the vehicle recovered.”
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said at the time: “We were called to Chafey’s roundabout, Weymouth at 10.29am this morning for a road traffic collision.
“Two crews from Weymouth attended and found one car had left the road and collided with a tree.
“The male driver was freed from the vehicle by firefighters and left in the care of the ambulance service.”
