THE city has paid its respects to Bradford’s Santokh 'Charlie' Singh following his tragic death.

Mr Singh was found with serious head injuries at a property in Airedale Road, Undercliffe at about 8.40am on Monday, November 30, and later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody today as a murder inquiry continues.

His death has sparked an outpouring of love and affection on social media and in the Telegraph & Argus’ online book of condolence.

One girl, who simply called herself Ruby, said his death had “left a huge empty void in so many lives” while many reminisced about his presence in the pubs of Bradford.

Known by many as ‘King Charlie of Otley Road’, many described how he was the “life and soul of a party” and “so happy all the time”.

Writing in the online book of condolence, Ruby said: “RIP uncle Charlie  you can rest now and be with grandad we miss you dearly and you've left a huge empty void in so many lives. We love you so much. You'll never be forgotten.”

Lauren Butler wrote: “Rip charlie senior, we will never forget you, you was funny kind and caring allways made me la[u]gh and you allways had a big smile on you face, good man with a heart of gold, we will never forget you.”
