FARMERS in Wrexham and Flintshire have been urged to remain vigilant following a rise in thefts.
Rob Taylor, North Wales Police rural crime team manager, said his team has seen an influx of crimes at farms in Wrexham and Flintshire South.
He said: "This time of year is notoriously busy - criminals want money for Christmas and help themselves to property.
"Be aware and lock stuff up.
"Often these people visit the farm and make an excuse to look around; they're lost or need directions.
"But they're checking the security arrangements and then they come back to take things.
"Quadbikes have been taken. These can cost many thousands of points and are essential tools for modern farming.
"To lose that, particularly before Christmas, can have a devastating effect on farms. "But trailers, chainsaws and tools, as well as livestock are also targeted."
