Primark is set to reopen a number of its stores for 40 hours straight when the lockdown ends later this week, including its Charlton and Bluewater stores.

The sites have been chosen along with nine others for an all-day and all-night festive shopping event, meaning shoppers visit the stores in person at 4am, if they fancy.

Primark stores across the country are due to reopen on December 2 when the national lockdown ends, and the chain has announced that all sites will open with extended opening hours to allow shoppers extra time ahead of the festive season.

Eleven Primarks have been chosen for a special long opening, which will see them open for a total of 40 hours.

The stores in Charlton and Bluewater will open at 7am on December 2, and stay open all the way through to closing time on December 3.

The other stores chosen for this bizarre event are in Trafford, York Monks Cross, Leeds White Rose, Lakeside, Birmingham Fort, Meadowhall, Stratford, White City and Gateshead.

All Primark stores located in major shopping centres and retail parks will extend opening hours until 10pm at a minimum with some stores opening as late as midnight.

All other stores across England will trade until at least 8pm on weekdays until 23 December.

Primark chief executive Paul Marchant said: "We are delighted to re-open our stores in England on 2 December, with longer shopping hours to give our customers more time to safely do their festive shopping.

"We have everything this season that our customers expect from Primark, including our famous Christmas jumpers, festive pyjamas and much, much more."
