A FURTHER 890 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the North-East and North Yorkshire.

The figures, released this afternoon, show another 15.871 people across the country have tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, across the UK a further 479 deaths were confirmed within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

There are currently 15,712 patients in hospitals in the UK being treated with the virus.

A further 25 people have died in hospitals in the North-East and North Yorkshire

County Durham: 18,971 was 18,847– an increase of 124

Darlington: 3,275 was 3,242 - an increase of 33

Gateshead: 7,698 was 7,646 – an increase of 52

Hartlepool: 3,870 was 3,825 – an increase of 45

Middlesbrough: 5,542 was 5,506 – an increase of 36

Newcastle: 15,596 was 15,521– an increase of 75

North Tyneside: 6,678 was 6,622– an increase of 56

North Yorkshire: 13,134 was 13,018– an increase of 116

Northumberland: 8,333 was 8,237– an increase of 96

Redcar and Cleveland: 4,482 was 4,457– an increase of 25

South Tyneside: 5,658 was 5,589– an increase of 69

Stockton: 7,487 was 7,438– an increase of 49

Sunderland: 10,918 was 10,826– an increase of 92

York: 5,612 was 5,590 – an increase of 22
