POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a firearms discharge in Bradford last night.

The incident happened at around 9.46pm on Halcyon Way, in the Canterbury area.

Damage was caused to a car on the street and the damage is consistent with gunshots, police say, although no-one was injured during the incident.

The suspects fled the scene in a car, which was later found burnt out by police.

A police cordon is still in place whilst officers continue their enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Sharron Kaye, who is leading the investigation, said: “Incidents involving firearms cause a significant amount of distress and concern for the local communities. We do believe this was a targeted incident.

“High visibility patrols have been deployed into the area today and over the weekend to provide reassurance to the local community.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward and speak with police to assist with our ongoing enquiries.”
