CHRIS Kamara is in full swing on his mission to give everyone an unbelievable Christmas 2020 with his second successive festive album.

The former Bradford City manager is following up the success of his debut release 'Here's to Christmas' with this year's follow-up 'And a Happy New Year'.

The 10-track album features favourites including White Christmas, Blue Christmas and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Fans have been given a sneak peek of the album, released on Friday, December 4, with a video for Kamara’s cover of the 1970s Wizzard classic, ‘I Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday’.

Kamara, nicknamed Kammy, says it was a great experience to be introduced on that song by Roy Wood, lead singer of Wizzard.

The presenter, known to many as the voice of Saturday afternoons, managed to squeeze in a few recording sessions with a live band for this year's effort before March's first lockdown with recording sessions since carried out remotely and by using video calls.

A 21-date tour of live concerts, based on last year's Christmas album, should have been in full swing at the moment, but had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

Kamara said: "I always thought I could sing. Getting to sing in front of a 22-piece big band is every artists' dream.

"Because of the success of last year's album, the record company said 'let's go for it again'.

"People initially thought it was a novelty record when they listened to it. It's become a serious situation.

Hopefully we have improved on last year's album. If it's not successful, then it's been a blast. It was number eight in the album charts last year

"Roy Wood introducing me is another 'pinch me, is it happening moment?'

"I have enjoyed doing it. We want to make this year's album bigger and better than last year's.

"The last time I saw the band was in March, just before lockdown. We have been working remotely over Zoom.

"It is just the stuff that dreams are made of."

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Meanwhile, Kamara says he loves his day job as a pundit on Sky Sports and holds Bradford dear to his heart.

He added: "My life is based on fate. It's all been coincidence after coincidence.

"Everything I have done since I have got on TV has been a bonus. Sky is my normal job.

"I love going back to Bradford. Bradford has been a massive part of my life and how it is today.

"Football rolls on. I will never give up my football."

Kammy's album is available to pre-order on Amazon now and is released on December 4.
