A BRADFORD MP has expressed his belief that Tier 3 is "clearly the most likely outcome" for the district.

Philip Davies (Shipley, Conservative) said he had not been given "any inside information" on the decision - the results of which are set to be revealed tomorrow.

It follows Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe's statement which warned there is a “strong possibility” of the district being given Tier 3 status based on its tier before the national lockdown.

Speaking this evening, Mr Davies told the Telegraph & Argus: “I don’t think you need to be a fortune teller to predict that we will be put into tier 3 next week.

"I haven’t been given any inside information but that is clearly the most likely outcome."

The MP added: "Unlike the Labour Party – who are supporting the government in Parliament over this – I will be voting against the continuation of these arbitrary and damaging restrictions which will devastate pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants at one of the busiest times of the year."

Cllr Hinchcliffe had also echoed concerns about the hospitality industry.

The leader said: “Our biggest concern is the hospitality businesses and the associated jobs at risk, particularly those in the supply chain of these businesses who have no financial support from Government.

"The Government have made it clear that this is entirely their decision and they are not consulting with councils."
