HAVING a home phone is becoming a thing of the past. Now one in five households no longer bothers with a landline.

We have hung on to ours, but less than a handful of people - including my parents - call us on it. Like most young people, my daughters are allergic to it. I remember handing the landline phone to my daughter who was having trouble with her mobile. She looked at it with horror It will be a sad day when the landline is no more - another thing from my youth relegated to the scrapheap.
